Who we are

Live Stock Library (ABN 64 901 070 303) operates Livestock Library at livestocklibrary.com.au. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, where it is stored, and who else can see it. You can reach us any time through our contact form.

What we collect

We collect only what the product needs to work. In full:

  • Account details — your email address, your name (if you give it), your role, and a securely hashed version of your password. We never store your password itself.
  • Farm details — your farm or business name, properties, Property Identification Codes (PICs), addresses, and property coordinates if you provide them.
  • Farm records you enter — animals, mobs, movements, health and treatment records, weights, attachments and compliance documents.
  • Technical information — your IP address and basic request information, used to keep the service secure and to apply rate limits.
  • Information about other people, which you give us — this list is about you, but the product also holds personal information about people who never signed up and may not know we exist. Visitors you sign in to your property biosecurity register (their name, who they work for, contact details, vehicle registration, where they were last near livestock); the other party to an agistment agreement (their name and contact details); people you invite to your team, before they accept; and anyone named in a note, a treatment record or a compliance document. You are the one who decided to record them, so you remain responsible for telling them and for having a reason to hold it — but we hold it, so we say so here rather than leaving it off a list that reads as complete.

We do not use advertising or analytics tracking. We set no cookies other than the one that keeps you signed in.

Where your information is stored

Your information is stored on a dedicated server operated by BigScoots in Chicago, Illinois, United States. This means your personal information is stored outside Australia, in the United States. By using Livestock Library you consent to that overseas storage. Each farm's records are held in a separate database from every other farm's.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information and we do not share it with other farms. We use a small number of service providers to run the product:

  • Anthropic (United States) — AI features (Ask Your Farm, Paddock Notes, compliance drafting).
  • Mailgun (United States) — sending account emails such as password resets and team invites.
  • Cloudflare (global network) — DNS, TLS and content delivery in front of the website.

The AI features are worth calling out specifically. When you use Ask Your Farm, Paddock Notes or compliance drafting, the relevant farm records for that request are sent to Anthropic in the United States so the model can answer. If you would rather your farm data never left our systems, simply don't use those features — everything else in Livestock Library works without them.

Accessing, correcting and deleting your information

You can view and edit your farm records in the app at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and everything in it — contact us and we will action it. When an account is closed we export a complete copy of that farm's database for you and then remove it from our systems.

Keeping it safe

Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Passwords are hashed. Each farm's data is isolated in its own database, and sessions are re-checked against your current account status on every request. Records are backed up nightly. No system is perfectly secure, but if a data breach ever occurred that was likely to cause you serious harm, we would notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, please tell us first so we can put it right. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
