AI-powered livestock management

An assistant that actually knows your herd.

Ask it anything about the place in plain English and get an answer straight from your own records — with the source. It reads what's on your farm; it does not invent animals, doses or dates.

The difference

Grounded in your records, not a chatbot guessing.

Most "farm AI" is a general chatbot with a farming coat of paint — it will happily make up a plausible-sounding answer. This one is wired directly into your herd register, treatment log, movement history and trading records. When you ask a question, it looks the answer up in your data and shows you where it came from.

Just as important is what it won't do. Anything that has to be exactly right — a withholding-period date, a head count, a gross margin — is computed by ordinary code from your records, never left to the model to do arithmetic in its head. If it doesn't have enough information to answer safely, it says so and asks, rather than filling the gap with a guess. And nothing that carries legal weight is ever submitted on its own: the assistant drafts, and you review and sign.

  • Every figure is traceable to a record you can open.
  • Compliance maths is done by code, not model arithmetic.
  • It asks when unsure instead of inventing an answer.
  • You always sign — the assistant never files a document.
  • Your farm data trains nothing — it answers only from your own records.
  • Visitor and contact details never go to the AI layer.
Three ways it works for you

Ask it, speak to it, let it draft.

Ask Your Farm Live

Type a question the way you'd say it — "which cows are still in withholding this week?", "what did the weaner steers gain this month?", "how many head on Back Block, and how many are overdue for NLIS?" — and get a straight answer pulled from your own records, with the tags and the source spelled out.

Behind the scenes it runs read-only lookups against your herd data and lets code do any counting or date maths. It can only read your records; it can't change a thing.

Paddock Notes Being finished

Talk into your phone in the yard — "drenched cow 4471 and her calf, marked 3921 a poor doer, and check the fence in the north paddock" — and get it turned into separate, correctly-attributed records: a treatment on 4471 and its calf, a note on 3921, and a job for the fence. You confirm each with a tap before anything is saved.

The rough transcript is made on the device so it works with no signal; the tidy-up into structured records happens when you sync. If a tag or a dose is ambiguous, it asks rather than guessing.

Compliance drafting Being finished

When it's time to move or sell stock, the assistant drafts the movement paperwork from your own records — the mob, the tags, the PICs, the treatment history — and computes every withholding and ESI date in code. You get an editable document to check.

You are always the vendor who reviews and approves. Nothing is auto-submitted, and once you sign, the document is frozen exactly as issued — a later edit to your records can never rewrite a document you've already put your name to.

Under the bonnet, in plain terms

How we keep it honest.

It reads your records — it isn't "trained on" them

The assistant answers by looking things up in your farm's own database at the moment you ask, the same way you would open the animal's page yourself. Your herd data is not used to train any model, and it is not shared with other farms. Two operations on Livestock Library never see each other's data — each farm's records live in their own separate database.

The risky maths is done by code

Language models are good at understanding a messy sentence and bad at arithmetic. So we split the work: the model reads your question and your notes and works out what you mean; ordinary, tested code does the counting, the date arithmetic, and the withholding calculations. A withholding clear-date is never something the model "reckons" — it is computed from the treatment, the product and the rule.

It declines rather than invents

If the records don't contain enough to answer safely — an ambiguous tag, a missing dose, a note that could mean two animals — the assistant asks a clarifying question or tells you it can't be sure. We would rather it say "I need the tag number" than confidently name the wrong beast.

You hold the pen

For anything with legal or financial weight, the assistant only ever produces a draft. You remain the person who reviews and signs. It cannot submit a compliance document, transfer an animal on NLIS, or change your books on its own.

Privacy

People's personal details — a visitor's name on the biosecurity register, a contact enquiry — are deliberately kept out of the AI layer entirely. The assistant works with your livestock, not your visitors' identities.
