What this is, and who we are
From 2012 until 2026, livestocklibrary.com.au was the address of a research repository built by the Sheep CRC and the Beef CRC and later managed by the Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit (AGBU). It listed tens of thousands of papers from Australian animal science societies, journals and research centres. It has since closed, but journals, theses, Wikipedia articles and industry reports still link to its pages.
Livestock Library is now an Australian business that makes livestock-management software. We are not connected to the old repository, or to the organisations that built and ran it. We rebuilt its catalogue from public records of what it listed, so that those old links lead somewhere useful again.
What we publish
For every paper: its citation, and a link to where it can be read today when we can confirm one. For a growing number of papers: a summary written by our team after reading the paper, in our own words. We do not host or reproduce the papers themselves, and we do not link to copies on sites that no longer work. Summaries are added a few at a time.
Each summary carries the date we wrote it. The paper's own publication year is in its citation. The illustrations on summaries are generated for us and are not photographs from the research.
Corrections and removals
If you wrote or published one of these papers and something in our summary is wrong, or you would rather it were not here, contact us. We will correct or remove it.
