Weights & performance

Turn the scale into a decision. Live

Every weigh is a data point about how the operation is doing. Capture it against the EID, watch average daily gain per beast, and use the weighed-vs-missing count as a quiet stock check.

A weight on its own is a number. A weight tied to the right animal, sitting next to that animal’s last three weights, becomes a decision: this steer is ready, that one is falling behind, this mob is gaining well on the new paddock. Livestock Library captures weights against the EID and does the arithmetic that turns them into performance.

It works with the gear you already own. Pair a Bluetooth EID reader and load bars, or run a walk-over weighing (WOW) setup where cattle weigh themselves at the water point, and readings flow straight onto each animal’s record — no writing tags on your arm and typing them in later.

How it works

From load bars to a plan.

01

Capture

Scan the tag and take the weight — in the crush with a reader, or passively at the water point with walk-over weighing. Works offline.

02

Compute

Average daily gain is worked out per beast and per mob from the gap between weighs — no spreadsheet, no manual dates.

03

Act

Draft the ones that have hit target, flag the poor doers, and see which mob is pulling ahead on which paddock.

Average daily gain, per beast and per mob

Log two weights and Livestock Library gives you the gain per day between them — for the individual animal and rolled up for the mob. Because the maths is done from real dates, a longer gap doesn’t flatter the number and a short one doesn’t exaggerate it. You see who’s performing and who’s costing you feed for nothing.

Weighed-vs-missing is stock control

Run a mob across the scale and the platform knows exactly which of its members got a reading and which didn’t. That gap is more than a data-quality note — a beast that should have come through the yards and didn’t is the first sign of a missing animal, a broken fence or a tally that’s drifted. The weigh session doubles as a muster check.

Body condition, from a photo

Photo capture ships with the app, so real animal photos start building up from day one. On top of that we’re adding an on-device body-condition score — a calibrated number from a photo — with the assistant layering the narrative on top ("BCS on this cow has slipped from 3.5 to 2.5 over six weeks, worth a look"). The numeric score is done by a dedicated model, not guessed, and the history is pulled through the same record set as everything else.
